Here in Washington state, we’ve been told not to sing during in-person worship services during the height of this pandemic, or at least until January 4, 2021.

Important Note: My post, here, isn’t to debate whether that recommendation is good/appropriate/reasonable/lawful, or not. So please don’t go there in the comments, OK?
Instead, I want to point out an(other) unexpected blessing the pandemic has brought. In using the Praise and Harmony music videos (https://praiseandharmony.tv/ ) rather than a worship/song leader during this time, I’ve noticed that I (we?) are thinking about the words of these songs more deeply, similar to the renewed focus we had back in the spring when we began streaming services online.
The meaning of the songs seems to be jumping out at us a bit more as we focus more on seeing/hearing than speaking/telling. Sometimes singing can become such a comfortable habit that we don’t really think about what we’re saying, especially with songs we are super familiar with. (“Ring Around the Roses” anyone??)

Changing things up a bit makes us refocus on what we’re doing, on what we’re saying.
Which is a good thing.
If you look for blessings, you’ll find them.
